Bajé al jardín a buscar naranjas
Una luciérnaga brillaba
escondida en la ranura de una piedra
Fascinada como siempre
por la Luz fui a buscarla
Anduvo por mi mano
paseándose.
¡Son feas de cerca las luciérnagas!
Cayeron otras luces
de un cielo, cercano, ensangrentado
Estas gritaban estridentes.
Volví a dormir
olvidando las naranjas.

The Oranges of Fear
Last night I was thirsty.
I went down to the garden to look for oranges
A firefly shone
hidden in the groove of a stone
Fascinated as always by the light I went to look for it
It walked on my hand...
They are ugly up close, the fireflies!
Other lights fell
of a sky, near, bloody
They screamed shrilly.
I went back to sleep
forgetting the oranges.
Other lights fell
of a sky, near, bloody
They screamed shrilly.
I went back to sleep
forgetting the oranges.
