Solitarias andan, vuelan, suben y bajan.
Cork Harbour seagulls
Today it rains in Cork
but seagulls remain
who descend to kiss the foam of the sea.
They are simple as water
free like the wind.
These seagulls are rebellious
like the people of Cork, I have seen them
even try to climb on the cap
of a captain of the Irish Royal Navy.
Solitaries walk, fly, go up and down.
They are neutral
They do not prefer to approach
to the foot that walks in the sand.
They are agile
like some funambula hands
in search of their balance.
They are sweet
like a tender heart
I observe them and before leaving the harbour I deduce
they just want peace of mind
and let them kiss the infinite foam of the sea.
